PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE RESPONSIBILITES YOU"LL BE SIGNING UP FOR WITH THIS ANIMAL I have a sweet ferret that needs rehomed. He has had it pretty rough, and unfortunately needs medical care I can't afford. Not only financially, but I have severe chronic pain that is worsening, making it much harder to care for him properly. I love the little guy to death and hate to have to post this, but he deserves to be with someone who can get him to the vet and put some weight on him. When I got him he was a surrender at a pet store. Within a couple of days he started wheezing. I was led to believe his vet bills would be paid for if this very thing happened, but the vet the store wanted me to go to, had quit the practice, which they somehow didn't know. They wouldn't do a thing knowing he was suffering. I spent $1,000 on his cage and everything else under the sun for him too. The only option they gave me was to get reimbursed, but spending all that money, of course I just couldn't do anything for the poor guy. I thought I had the safety net from the store, so I went ahead and got him anything he could need. He got deathly ill quickly; I thought he was going to pass any day. He ate less and less, eventually stopping completely, as well as drinking. When I attempted to assist feed him he would just spit it out. His breathing got much worse; to the point you could see him struggling the breathe, only taking winded deep breaths, using everything he had In him to do so, while hearing whistling and wheezing. He couldn't even get up to use the bathroom and was going on himself. I did everything I could to comfort him; keeping him clean, gave him a blanket and dog bed, offering food and Pedilite constantly, talking to him, etc. When he hadn't ate or drank for over 24 hours, he finally drank some water when I offered it. When he started drinking like mad I tried to assist feed him Duk soup from a bottle again, he started eating, finally. It took quite a few weeks of assist feeding to get him to eat on his own, and get him back to solid food, but he's much better now. He hasn't had any respiratory issues for 3 months. Though he's fed multiple times a day with meat baby food and/or Duk soup mixed in his food, Pedilite, plus extra vitamins, and he scarfs it all down, he is very skinny. He has put weight on but needs to see a vet, he is clearly so malnourished. When I researched what to feed him to fatten him up it said to give him raw poultry meat. I tried chicken livers, cut pieces of white and dark meat, turkey necks, but he won't touch it. He will walk around when you get him out but is very weak and never has energy. He constantly sleeps, even when you get him out and try to play with him. He isn't interested in toys at all; he even just goes to sleep in his ball pit. He occasionally perks up and will explore a little if you put him on the floor, but not for long. As stated above, I did pay a lot of money for him and all his supplies. His cage alone was over $300 at the pet store, and he was $250. Brand new, unopened, the supplies I have for him total out to around $170. It certainly isn't just about the money I spent on him, but also to ensure he goes to a good home that is committed, and that will take excellent care of him, the rehoming fee isn't cheap. Reasonable negotiations will be considered however. I am asking $500. If you are a good fit I would be willing to drop the price down. It is important to me he will be provided with a loving home that will give him the attention, care and love he deserves. I don't know what age he is, but judging by just the color of his teeth, I would guess not older than maybe two. He has a long life still to live and as much as it saddens me, I would love to see him healthier than he is now, and love him enough to do what I have to for him to get veterinarian care. Please don't hesitate to ask questions! If interested! Everything included: Marshell mansion cage Monkey hammock (+unopened one) Ball pit Litter pan Cage attachable cup x2 open bags of treats Water bottle Shampoo Goodbye odor for drinking water Harness and leash Homeopathic breathing treatment oil Collar Stick, tease toy with clip Raindeer antler hat
